Traveling with PugsleyTonks

What is Traveling with PugsleyTonks all about?? My goal is the pursuit of that little slice of Americana. It's not big name or high-cost tourism. PugsleyTonks likes to find that diamond in the rough or go to the out of the way small town. I want to visit the oldest bar in every state with hopes that they serve some PBR on tap. Find that unique "ma-pa" restaurant with an interesting blue collar atmosphere and large portions to match. Or, perhaps its as simple as a little walkabout in the city to discover that strange little statue or other oddities. So, please come and join me in my search for Americana. Discover some obscure attraction or learn some useless information. All are welcome and its really just good, clean travel fun. PT

CHALLENGE

CHALLENGE – Where are we? – ANSWERED

I just realized that I forgot to bring closure to this CHALLENGE. Although, I suspect that no one will notice this update. Be that as it may, I am duty bound to complete this CHALLENGE.

Several of you were familiar with this area. I guess the center of the area would be High Point, North Carolina. High Point claims to be the furniture capital of the world. In close proximity to High Point are the other furniture towns of Thomasville and Jamestown. These small towns are just a bit south of Winston-Salem. If you want to shop for furniture this is the place to be. Furniture manufacturers and outlets are every where. I think my dog, Tonks, saved me on this trip. My wife, Carol, did not push to visit any furniture stores because they were generally not pet friendly. Thank you Tonks.

Anyway, see the pictures below. I have added captions for the exact name and location of each furniture attraction…if you care. PT

On an extremely hot summer day in July, the Tonks and I were wandering the countryside in search of blog worthy adventures. However, pickings were slim. Then, we came upon a region where they seemed to have a propensity to make big furniture. Now, I am not talking about larger size chest of drawers worthy to hold my wife’s vast and decadent wardrobe. Rather, I am talking about Paul Bunyan sized furniture. There were many claims of “world largest this or that.” I did not attempt to validate any of these claims. Instead, I merely took the pictures to offer you this CHALLENGE…

Where are we?

The pictures are all fairly close together, but in separate small towns. Any reasonable guess in the region earns you a correct answer

This is a fairly easy CHALLENGE. Please put your answer in the COMMENT section below. Have a wonderful day. PT

p.s. Although it has absolutely nothing to do with this area, I might as well throw in a couple final pictures. It seems its very Americana to find useless, large furniture all over the country.

    High Point North Carolina
I believe it is near Mount Pilot and we probably pas it every time we visit our daughter Erin in Myrtle Beach. But of course that’s not how I found the answer. I zoomed in on your photo; googled the phrase that I could read and added the word furniture. Found an image of the chest of drawers with the socks hanging out.

Maybe I did not cheat off Jumper, but I still cheated

    • Outstanding effort! By my blog standards (not high), that is NOT considered cheating. PT

North Carolina—lots of furniture made there. They left the basket in OH though
