Traveling with PugsleyTonks

What is Traveling with PugsleyTonks all about?? My goal is the pursuit of that little slice of Americana. It's not big name or high-cost tourism. PugsleyTonks likes to find that diamond in the rough or go to the out of the way small town. I want to visit the oldest bar in every state with hopes that they serve some PBR on tap. Find that unique "ma-pa" restaurant with an interesting blue collar atmosphere and large portions to match. Or, perhaps its as simple as a little walkabout in the city to discover that strange little statue or other oddities. So, please come and join me in my search for Americana. Discover some obscure attraction or learn some useless information. All are welcome and its really just good, clean travel fun. PT

CHALLENGE – Where is Carol? – ANSWERED

As several of you were well aware, the man in the mural behind Carol is the famous singer, song writer, Nobel Prize laureate, author and generally odd fellow…Bob Dylan. However, Bob was actually born in Duluth, Minnesota. But, Duluth was just the closest thing to a civilized town where his mom could give birth. Then, he was raised in a far northern Minnesota town, known as Hibbing. When it was time for college, Bob went south for the warmer climate of Minneapolis. His college career at the University of Minnesota lasted about 6 months. However, the fine people of Minneapolis still claim him as their own. And, even gave him a mural…

Where is Carol?……………Minneapolis, MN, of course

For those of you that know me well, music is not much of a factor in my interests. During my brief stay in Minneapolis, I was more interested in a couple other noteworthy Minneapolis citizens. I had to visit the statue of the late, great Mary Tyler Moore. As Mary Richards, she spent most of her professional career at WJM-TV of Minneapolis working for Lou Grant. Also, Minneapolis is on the banks of the Mississippi river. The city abounds with the remnants of these huge flour manufacturing plants. Flour was the life blood of early Minneapolis. Pillsbury and other large flour manufacturers used the power of the river to drive their process. So, it should be recognized that the Pillsbury Dough Boy is also a native of Minneapolis.

Have a wonderful day. PT

ORIGINAL POST

There is plenty of information in the picture. No clues needed. Merely, name the town where Carol is standing.

Did you visit the George Floyd mural too?

    • No, we choose not to go there. Too far away from UM. Tight blog schedule. PT
