Ghostly Tours
A Nightly Entertainment Option
In previous posts, I have suggested certain alternative entertainment options (e.g. factory tours, cemetery walks) to help fill out your travel itineraries. Well, let me add another option to the list…Ghost Tours. You have probably heard or done these ghostly tours before this post. But, I wanted to make a point to endorse these nightly adventures. Some tours are scarier than others. But, with a good attitude, you will have a pleasant evening stroll while your guide explains points of interest and the dark side of city history.

Shameless Commercialism
As you should know, this blog is all about finding that slice of Americana. Well, there are few things more Americana than shameless commercialism. So, if you did not see it coming yet….here it comes….
Traveling with PugsleyTonks is extremely excited to announce…drum roll please…we ACTUALLY have a real sponsor. YES! Traveling with PugsleyTonks has entered into an affiliate agreement with this nation’s #1 provider of ghost tours, US Ghost Adventures,

Click on this link… https://usghostadventures.com/?ref=ytmxmtg7 …to learn all about US Ghost Adventures. In addition to the tours in about 200 cities, there are also haunted pub crawls, haunted overnight stays, and merchandise. PugsleyTonks has his sights set on a haunted pub crawl in my coming trip to Richmond, VA. But, the ESSENTIAL point is…book your adventures through the links on this page or my homepage. Its not shameless commercialism unless you book through my site…and PugsleyTonks gets his commission.
Columbus Ghost Tour
I did not want to do this announcement/endorsement without recently sampling their product. So, my handlers at US Ghost Adventures sent my wife, Carol, and I on the Columbus Ghost tour, entitled “Lost Lurkings of Lunatic Lane.”

All tours start at an easy gathering point. Naturally, the Columbus tour started at The Arnold statue. Then, our tour guide, Julie, took us on our private tour of the dark side of downtown Columbus. Julie was an excellent combination of knowledge and enthusiasm. I do want to give away her tour. But, I will mention my favorite story.

The Char Bar is a righteous dive bar in Columbus that I have been known to patronize. Well, 150 years ago it was a funeral home. Not only that…but, the funeral home (above left picture) actually handled Abraham Lincoln. Abe’s funeral procession went from Washington D.C. to his hometown of Springfield, IL. Well, along the way, Abe’s embalming job started to fail a bit. As the story goes, his face starting caving in too much. So, they put Abe in the basement of the Char Bar and re-embalmed him. From now on, I will always think of Abe’s caved in face, as I drink at the Char Bar.
By the way, the tours are not just fun, they are science. Our guide equipped us with a Ghost Adventures Phantom X EMF Detector. Anyone who has watched the paranormal documentaries, Ghostbusters I and Ghostbusters II, knows of the effectiveness of EMF devices for detecting paranormal activities. Carol was able to track down the ghost of Captain Dee at the old Columbus Fire House. Its SCIENCE I tell you.
Thank You
Thank you to Julie for hosting us in on an excellent ghostly tour of downtown Columbus. And, thank you to US Ghost Adventures for our new affiliate agreement. And, most importantly, thanks IN ADVANCE to my readers for remembering to book your Ghost Tours through the links on my website. I am never actually going to get any money without you. Have a ghostly day. PT
