Traveling with PugsleyTonks

What is Traveling with PugsleyTonks all about?? My goal is the pursuit of that little slice of Americana. It's not big name or high-cost tourism. PugsleyTonks likes to find that diamond in the rough or go to the out of the way small town. I want to visit the oldest bar in every state with hopes that they serve some PBR on tap. Find that unique "ma-pa" restaurant with an interesting blue collar atmosphere and large portions to match. Or, perhaps its as simple as a little walkabout in the city to discover that strange little statue or other oddities. So, please come and join me in my search for Americana. Discover some obscure attraction or learn some useless information. All are welcome and its really just good, clean travel fun. PT

Identify this Long John Eater

Spengler’s Restaurant and Pub is a very popular place in the small northwest Ohio town of Napoleon. This iconic restaurant has been serving breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1892. Due to its popularity, Spengler’s makes for a great campaign stop for political candidates looking to get some grass roots support. During one such campaign stop, this national political figure and his entourage stopped for breakfast and a quick morning photo op. He ordered the classic Long John donut. Troublingly, he actually used his utensils to eat a donut. Isn’t that a sign of a sociopath??? Furthermore, he did not even eat much of his Long John. What kind of human does this??? It shocked the fine folks at Spengler’s so much that they entombed the donut, napkins, and utensils within a hermetically sealed display case.

Be that as it may, this disturbed campaign artifact is your pre-post teaser…

Have a wonderful day. PT
